FORT GREENE — A man was arrested for throwing a vacuum cleaner through a closed window last week that hit another man in the face, the NYPD said.

The suspect, 31, chucked the vacuum through a ground-floor window at a home on Clermont Avenue at 4:45 p.m. on June 2, striking a 42-year-old resident inside the apartment, police said.

The flying appliance caused the victim "substantial pain," but it is unclear if the man went to the hospital, according to police.

The two men did not know each other, and it is unclear what provoked the attack, police said.

The attacker was charged with harassment, assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court next on July 27.

Other crimes in the 88th Precinct:

► A 32-year-old woman was robbed by a man wielding a stick while walking down Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill, according to police.

The suspect approached the victim with the stick in his hand and grabbed her purse, police said. He then threw the woman to the ground and ran off, police said.

No arrests were made and an investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.

► A man attempting to burglarize a Fort Greene school was caught inside the building with a knife but fled empty-handed, police said.

A school employee entered P.S. 753 School For Career Development at 6 a.m. on June 6 to find the door unlocked and the alarm broken, the NYPD said.

The employee then saw a man in the building holding a knife, but the suspect fled and no arrests were made, police said. Nothing was taken from the school, according to police.
