FORT GREENE — Police are investigating an SUV driver who ran a red light and caused a multi-car crash that injured three people early Sunday, authorities said.

The collision injured the SUV driver and his passenger as well as a third person who was treated at the scene, according to the FDNY. The first two individuals were taken to New York Methodist Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The driver ran a red light at the corner of Cumberland Street and Lafayette Avenue at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning, striking a smart car, a motorcycle and at least two more vehicles, police and fire officials said.

Police said that no arrests were made but that an investigation was ongoing.

The driver could face criminal charges, police told CBS New York.
