DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Brooklyn's largest hotel is about to get a major makeover — with details that offer an "authentic taste of the neighborhood" like a Navy Yard-inspired lounge and suds served from local breweries.

Renovations to The Marriott Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn will run $43 million and include a bar area adorned with local art and industrial materials such as glass and steel.

There will also be a lounge that will sport a wooden communal table and a large Brooklyn Bridge-inspired mural in the reception area.

The upgrades are designed to "convey the borough’s layers of history and change, its vibrant neighborhoods and cultures, and its ties to transportation," according to officials.

The bar and lounge will also serve local drinks such as craft beers, coffee from Brooklyn Roasting Company and wine from Brooklyn Winery.

There will also be small plates like Brooklyn "Beer Batter Cod Bites" and "Lemon and Rosemary Grilled Wings" from Brooklyn Pantry.

"Marriott Hotels encourages each property to localize the guest experience and, in a place as vibrant as Brooklyn, that opens up tremendous possibilities," manager Sam Ibrahim said in a statement.

"Whether it's serving Brooklyn-made coffee or displaying a local artist’s abstract mural, our hotel will reflect travelers’ desires to get an authentic taste of the neighborhood."

The hotel's ballroom, meeting rooms and 667 guest rooms will also get renovations.

The makeover will be rolled out in phases with changes in the bar, lounge and front desk area set to be unveiled in May and renovations to the ballroom and meeting rooms to be completed in September 2015 and in 2016 respectively.
