FORT GREENE — A green cab driver raped a 33-year-old woman in the back seat of his taxi early Monday morning, police said.

The woman was waiting for a cab after leaving a friend's house in Fort Greene just after midnight when driver Esa Alusaimi, 26, asked her if she wanted a ride, police said.

The victim told the Daily News that everything was normal until they reached her destination.

There, the cab driver told her the credit card machine was broken and began to ask questions before locking the car doors, climbing into the back seat and attacking her, according to police and the criminal complaint from the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

It is unclear exactly where the assault took place.

After the assault, the suspect drove a few more blocks and then let the woman out of the cab, driving off with her purse, according the News and the complaint.

Alusaimi was pulled over minutes later after he ran a red light at the corner of Hicks and Union streets in Carroll Gardens, police said.

The officer noticed the suspect was acting nervous while telling the officer that he was returning a passenger’s property to the 76th Precinct, according police.

While the officer was escorting Alusaimi to the nearby precinct, a report of a robbery came over on the police radio and the cab driver fit the description for the suspect, sources said.

The victim, who was taken to Kings County Hospital, was able to identify Alusaimi, sources said.

Alusaimi was arrested and charged with rape, criminal sex act, sexual misconduct, unlawful imprisonment, petit larceny and sexual abuse. He was arraigned Tuesday, according to the Brooklyn DA's office.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission said Alusaimi's cab license was suspended after his arrest and referred additional questions to the NYPD.

Information about Alusaimi's attorney was not immediately available.
