ROCKAWAY BEACH — Traffic resumed Monday evening after it was stopped for hours on the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, which connects the Rockaway peninsula to Brooklyn, because it was stuck in the up position after a boat passed underneath, according to officials.
The bridge was lifted at 11:30 a.m. for marine traffic and became stuck a short while later due to a power problem, according to an MTA spokeswoman.
"There was a problem with a Con Ed feeder cable, we don't have enough juice to bring it down," the spokeswoman said.
A generator was used to lower the bridge shortly before 5 p.m. and the bridge was opened to traffic in both directions around 6 p.m., according to an MTA statement.
