CLINTON HILL — Beigel's Bakery is leaving Clinton Hill and moving to Canarsie.

The bakery, known for its challah, black and white cookies and pastries, has been headquartered in Clinton Hill for more than a decade but recently sold their factory at 551 Waverly Ave. to developers for $23.5 million, the Daily News first reported.

The kosher bakery's new space in Canarsie is bigger and cheaper, according to Sam Beigel, a member of the family that owns the business.

"We will have so much more space in Canarsie," he said. "Customers can look out for new products  — anything you can bake under the sun, we will be making."

Beigel would not disclose the exact location of the new factory.

Beigel's Bakery was founded by Polish immigrant Israel Beigel in 1948 on the Lower East Side.

The family business then moved to Williamsburg and later to Waverly Avenue where the yeasty smell of dough became a staple for locals.

Their baked goods can be found in supermarkets, club stores and well-known eateries such as Carnegie Deli and Second Avenue Deli, according to their website.

Beigel said the family is sad to leave the neighborhood but excited for new ventures.

"This is good news for us but we will miss Clinton Hill," he said.
