DUMBO — Plans are in the works to convert five former Jehovah's Witness buildings in DUMBO into a "high-tech urban campus" complete with office space, retail space, dining areas, a rooftop deck, gourmet food market and outdoor plazas.
The buildings are interconnected by skybridges and will also sport bicycle parking, a day care center, pet friendly spaces and health and wellness facilities, according to a new website launched by developer Kushner Companies and their partners RFR Realty and LIVWRK.
The office complex is located in the heart of Brooklyn's "Tech Triangle" at the intersection of DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn surrounded by tech start-ups, galleries, performance spaces, and 10 colleges and universities.
Kushner Companies bought the properties — located at 175 Pearl St., 77 Sands St., 117 Adams St., 81 Prospect and 55 Prospect — last year for $375 million, according to the Daily News.
Combined, the five buildings offer 863,000-square feet of office space and 100,000-square feet of retail space with views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.
Rental prices start under under $60 per square foot and are expected to be open and occupied in the first quarter of 2015, according to the paper.
Several well-known occupants will be announced in the coming weeks, the News reported.
