DUMBO — Pizza lovers rejoice.

A new iPhone app Pizza Compass, created by a DUMBO-based company, is making it easier to track a slice.

The 99-cent app features an interactive map with tiny pizza icons that point users in the direction of the nearest pie. The pizza gets steamy as users approach their target.

Powered by Foursquare, the app works in most major cities. It also shows you restaurant ratings, hours and reviews.

Designer Daniel Blackman, a Cobble Hill resident, dreamed up the app one night while out drinking. At 3 a.m, there was not a slice in sight.

"I joked with my friend about an app that would find us pizza," he said. "But then I decided to really do it."

New app Pizza Compass created in DUMBO promises to get a slice to the user's mouth as quickly as possible.

He worked with DUMBO-based Oak Studios to develop the technology and pulled out all stops to promote the app.

"We hired an actor to play [an invented] CEO of the company in a short commercial," Blackman said. "We named him Zeus Gorham Munkist."

Actor Gary Reel plays Munkist in a kitschy ad in which he calls Pizza Compass "the most important app ever made."

"It helps pizza get to your mouth," the faux CEO promised in the ad.
