Rihanna's Hairstylist Opens New Salon in Fort Greene

FORT GREENE — She gave Rihanna the side shave, the bob and flowing red locks.

And now Brooklyn native Ursula Stephen is opening her own salon in Fort Greene.

"I want the salon to be versatile. I want to see a white girl getting a blowout, and a black girl getting a weave," she told The Cut. "When I was younger, I didn't want to work in an all-white salon, but I dreamed of an atmosphere where it was mixed together."

Stephen was born in Crown Heights and has been cutting hair since she was a teenager. In 2007 the talented stylist started to do Rihanna's hair, giving her looks that graced the singer's album covers and Vogue photo shoots.

Stephen's salon will open for business this month at 66 Lafayette Avenue, according to The Cut.
