Brooklyn's Famed Junior's Goes Global

By Janet Upadhye | August 16, 2012 3:41pm

DOWTOWN BROOKLYN — Brooklyn’s most famous diner is about to go global.

Junior’s, founded in 1950 in Downtown Brooklyn, is opening two new locations in Tokyo and Osaka, according to the New York Post.

Junior’s began to ship cheesecakes to Japan last spring, and with a growing demand, the company has decided to base new restaurants there. Japanese chefs will visit Brooklyn next month to train with Junior’s chefs to learn all the secrets.

But for now, cheesecakes will be made in New York, and fruit toppings will be added when the cakes reach Japan.

The Japanese chefs will also learn to prepare meats while they’re in Brooklyn, Junior’s style.
