QUEENS — A 39-year-old man was shot and killed on a Queens Village street early Friday morning, the NYPD said.

The victim, whose identity was not released, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest in front of 114-52 210th St., near 115th Avenue, about 2:30 a.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not clear what sparked the bloodshed.

"I heard lots of gunshots," said Mellissa Auguste, 24, who lives across the street from where the shooting occurred, and said she was trying to fall back to sleep at that time.

"It was really loud and I thought, 'Oh my God, it's a shooting.'"

Auguste added detectives later told her there were 11 shots fired, on a block where she said violence rarely breaks out.

"We feel so sad," noted Mary, 50 another local resident who declined to provide her last name, "but we didn't know who he was."
