QUEENS — More than a dozen people were injured when a limo carrying revelers from a high school prom collided with an SUV on a Queens Village street Thursday morning, the FDNY and a limo company representative said.
One of the boys in the massive Hummer "Transformer" stretch limo, whose identity was not released, was rushed to North Shore University Hospital for an arm injury, according to Alex Morales, 31, an employee of Diamond Limousine NY Inc., which he said owns the car.
According to the witnesses, the limo was traveling south on Springfield Boulevard toward Hempstead Avenue at 7:13 a.m.
An Acura, driving north on Springfield, tried to make a left turn onto Hempstead, and it crashed with the limo, the witnesses said.
One of two people in the SUV, a 2008 Acura MDX, was taken to a hospital for an unknown injury, Morales said.
Another 11 other people were treated at the scene but it was not clear how many of those were hospitalized. Their conditions were also unknown.
Morales arrived at the scene shortly after the crash but declined to state the limo's origin or destination.
