BROOKLYN — Cops are hunting for a 24-year-old man wanted for fatally shooting a man in a Fort Greene housing project.

The NYPD released a photo Thursday of Darren Price, who they believe shot Justin Cherry in the chest March 5 in front of 86 Carlton Ave. in the Walt Whitman Houses.

Cherry, 20, who lived in the building, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he died, police said.

It was unclear why Price, who police said had eight prior arrests — mostly for drugs, shot Cherry.

Cops consider Price armed and dangerous. They describe him being 5-feet-10-inches tall with black and brown eyes.

His last known address was at 81 Pulaski St. in Brooklyn, police said.

Anyone with information is being urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tipsters can also submit information at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or by texting 274637, then enter TIP577.
