BROOKLYN — Four massive containers fell from a tractor trailer on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near the Brooklyn Bridge early Monday, creating rush hour traffic woes for rush hour commuters, officials said.

The empty, 90-foot-long containers fell off the back of the truck onto a street under the Brooklyn Bridge near the Brooklyn-Queens expressway about 8:10 a.m., fire officials said.

Chains supporting the containers apparently broke, releasing them onto the street, they said.

The truck maintained control, and no one was injured, fire officials said.

But the accident forced officials to temporarily block all Queens-bound lanes. The lanes were reopened a short time later, officials said.
