5 Dead, 7 Wounded In Shootings Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have left five people dead and seven wounded since Saturday, police said.

• At 3:20 a.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man was shot to death in Chatham, police said.

• At 3 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Wicker Park, police said.

• At 12:50 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot to death in West Englewood, police said.

• At 11:55 a.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man was shot dead and a 13-year-old boy was seriously wounded in Austin, police said.

• At 9:15 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot dead in Englewood, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 4:30 a.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old man was wounded in West Rogers Park, police said.

Officers in the area responded to gunfire and found the man lying in an alley in the 2400 block of West Devon Avenue, police said.

He was hit multiple times in his back and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, police said.

• At 11 p.m. Saturday, a 20-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Back of the Yards, police said.

The man was walking eastbound on the 4500 block of South Honore Street when someone in a white vehicle drove by and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his right leg and groin and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The shooting appears to be gang related, police said.

• At 10:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in North Austin, police said.

The man was walking in the 1700 block of North Mason Avenue when someone in a Silver Charger fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his left leg and took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

The victim was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 4 p.m., a 20-year-old man was wounded in South Austin, said officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesperson.

The man was walking in the 5500 block of West Iowa Street when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said.

He was hit in his upper left thigh and was taken to Rush University Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said.

• At 3:50 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in East Garfield Park, Estrada said.

The man was walking in the 3300 block of West Maypole Avenue when someone in a grey vehicle fired shots, Estrada said.

He was grazed in the left foot and was taken to Norwegian American Hospital in stable condition, Estrada said.

• At 2:20 p.m., a 24-year-old man was wounded in Douglas Park, Estrada said.

The man was outside in the 1300 block of South Fairfield Avenue when someone in a dark-colored vehicle drove by and fired shots, Estrada said.

He was hit in his right leg and lower back, and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital in unknown condition, Estrada said.

No one was in custody.
