Jim Scott

Director of Product Development @JimScott04 Contact

Jim Scott is the director of product development at DNAinfo. He works with technology, marketing, sales and editorial to develop user-friendly products to help grow DNAinfo's audience and revenue.

Jim was part of the original DNAinfo launch team in 2009. He was previously a deputy editor at DNAinfo, in charge of daily newsroom operations.

He spent three years as a web producer for NBCNewYork.com and was instrumental in WNBC's online coverage of the Midtown steam pipe explosion and the resignation of Gov. Eliot Spitzer, as well as the Beijing Olympics.

Though he was raised 117 miles north of Manhattan, he was born here and, after college, obeyed the pull of his homeland and the media business.

After a brief stint in radio, he worked in the sports department of the Associated Press in 1999. For six years he honed his craft, awed that he was paid to write about the Knicks, Yankees, Rangers and his other favorite teams.

Jim met his wife in 2003 at Third & Long, on 35th Street and Third Avenue, disproving the theory that you can't meet a nice girl in a Manhattan bar. After work he retreats to the suburban luxuries of a backyard and off-street parking in Nassau County.

Fun Fact: Jim grew up with a fear of heights, even though his father was a construction worker on skyscrapers, the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center and every major bridge in the city.
