THE BRONX — Investigators are searching for the man who shot and killed a Soundview resident on Tuesday night, according to the NYPD.

Police released a new sketch of the man they say chased and shot Corey Smith, 24, in Tremont on Tuesday night near East 175th Street and Crotona Park North at about 8:24 p.m. The suspect doubled back and fled down East 175th Street, police said.

"Paramedics came. They were pumping him and pumping him and pumping him, but he wasn't responding at all. He was face up on the ground. ... I think he was gone," a witness said Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital, police said.

The suspect is roughly 20 to 25 years old, "well-groomed," and last seen wearing a black parka and skull cap, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
