OLINVILLE — The 15-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted and brutally beaten near the Bronx River on Monday was lured into the park by her attacker, police said.

The victim met her assailant on the subway platform at the Gun Hill Road stop on the 2 train and went with him over to Bronx Park by the corner of E. 213th Street and Bronx Boulevard, at which point he tried to sexually assault her, according to the NYPD.

"She fought back, and that's when she was struck repeatedly by him," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.

The victim is still hospitalized and in a lot of pain with a broken jaw, but she has identified the man in the picture police put out as her attacker, and officials should have better pictures of him soon, according to Boyce.

Officers have described the suspect as a man who is about 25 years old, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, has a medium build and complexion and was last seen wearing a black Champion hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, Timberland boots and black gloves.

The suspect also had scabs on his lips, police said.
