WASHINGTON HEIGHTS – A man tried to rob a neighborhood Starbucks at knifepoint early Monday morning, making it the second time the coffee shop has been targeted in less than three months, police said.

The man, described to be in his 20s, attempted to rob the Starbucks on 803 W. 181st St. at approximately 6:44 a.m., police said.

Reggie Borges, a spokesman for the coffee chain, said "nothing was taken" and that employees were safe.

"We can confirm there was an attempted robbery at our store this morning; nothing was taken," Borges wrote in an email to DNAinfo New York. "We are grateful all of our partners (employees) are safe and that no customers were in the store at the time of the incident."

Back in May, the shop was held up at gunpoint by a man in his 20s who fled with $1,800, police said.
