SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Famed 80's band Duran Duran are about to rock out at the South Street Seaport, for a good cause.

The British group, perhaps best known for songs like "Rio" and "Hungry Like the Wolf", is headlining Dock Rocks, a recently announced concert to benefit the South Street Seaport Museum, which is still recovering from more than $3 million of Hurricane Sandy damage.

The concert, which will also feature Wyclef Jean and others, yet to be announced special guests, will take place on Pier 16 on Aug. 4.

General admission tickets are $55. But for those willing to spend between $475 and $950, you'll be able to watch the concert from boats docked in the water, some at nearby Pier 15.

The VIP tickets come with perks like open bar, food, and a choice of vessel, depending on the price — from a Water Taxi boat, historic ship or luxury yachts.

The concert's producer, Jaime Rose, said organizers hope this event will become an annual benefit.

"Music is a great connector," said Rose, who's produced several philanthropic concerts, like the Jay-Z, Alicia Keys show at Carnegie Hall to benefit the United Way in 2012. "It's a wonderful way to raise awareness and raise money for a historic, important institution that needs our help."

Duran Duran, who has a new album coming out in September, seemed a good fit because "they're a band many people who live in the area, or now work in the Financial District likely grew up listening too," Rose said.

Plus, the band's lead singer, Simon Le Bon — along with Wyclef Jean — "have a great love for boats and the sea," Rose said, and they wanted performers who have an appreciation for the Seaport Museum's mission.

Rose said they expect to raise at least $250,000 for the museum through the event.
