ST. GEORGE — H&M, the giant Sweden-based clothing store, announced it will open a second Staten Island outpost inside Empire Outlets, becoming the second tenant to take space in the project.
The company will open a non-outlet store in the soon-to-be under construction Empire Outlets, developed by BFC Partners.
Nordstrom Rack announced in July it will be the first anchor tenant for the mall.
H&M also has a store inside the Staten Island Mall in New Springville.
Empire Outlets — which will be adjacent to the New York Wheel — plans to break ground on April 16. Construction of both projects was pushed back a month because of the brutal winter.
The nearly 350,000 square-foot outlet mall will have more than 100 retail spots, restaurants and a 190 room "boutique hotel."
“We are extremely excited to welcome H&M as one of our premier retail anchors at Empire Outlets," said Joseph Ferrara, principal of BFC Partners, in a statement.
"The global presence and appeal that H&M has to our domestic and international visitors will undoubtedly be an experience that guests will want to repeat time and time again.”
