Borough President James Oddo has been pushing several different ferry routes to come to Staten Island.

The opening of the new ferry dock is part of the mayor's 2017 citywide ferry service launch.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in The Bronx at P.S. 47 John Randolph.

The city has set aside $42 million to buy four ferries and reconstruct a Navy Yard dock.

City officials previously only said it would launch in the summer of 2017.

Plans for the area include a new ferry station, a dock for kayaks and public esplanades along the water.

The city is planning to bring ferry service to Astoria by 2017, the mayor said earlier this year.

The ferry would stop at 178th and Dyckman streets, in addition to Harlem, Midtown and Upper West Side.

The city is looking into boats that can operate in extreme cold while planning the five-borough ferry.

Service on the waterway was suspended until further notice Tuesday morning.

The ferry will run every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on New Year's Day.

The new service would provide visitors better access to St George's waterfront.
