Software Engineer Contact

Daniel Hanold is a software engineer for DNAinfo.

He grew up in a small town in the south of Germany and studied Media Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Stuttgart.

Prior to joining DNAinfo, he started several tech startups. His first online venture was the social bookmarking site PeoplesMD, followed by the role of technical lead for the dating platform Mister. During his career as full-stack LAMP developer, he also launched several websites for clients such as Mark Bittman, Frank Bruni, The Box Butler, The Religious Institute, and Knibb Design.

Daniel is enthusiastic about application frameworks, in particular the Drupal content management framework. He has been an active member of the community for over 6 years and maintains several projects on Drupal.org. In recent years, his interest was piqued by mobile apps and he decided to become a Titanium Certified Expert, creating several apps for iPhone and Android. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys electronic music, volleyball, and New York’s eclectic restaurant scene.

Fun fact: Daniel acquired his self-defense skills from reruns of one of his favorite movies: Miss Congeniality. When all else fails, he remembers to S.I.N.G.
