Wil Cruz is a news editor at DNAinfo.

Wil joins DNAinfo after years of experience in print and online journalism. He has covered the NYPD, the FDNY and the Department of Correction for the New York Daily News, and education, among other areas, for Newsday. Most recently, Wil worked at Fox News Latino, where he covered U.S. Hispanic issues, including the changing demographics of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans in the city.

Wil grew up on the Lower East Side (before it was cool to live there, he likes to remind people). From there, he moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn (before it was….) and spent 10 years there. His work as a reporter has given him the chance to see — he believes, anyway — just about every street in the city.

Wil received his Bachelor's degree from the City College of New York, and did some graduate work in urban policy at the New School.

In his quest to live in every borough of the city, Wil now lives in Forest Hills, Queens. He is married and has a teenage daughter.

Fun fact: Wil has coached or refereed for a Lower East Side basketball league for middle schoolers for the last 25 years. He's sure they're all taller than him now (if they weren't already).
