Meredith Hoffman

Reporter/Producer @Merhoffman Contact

Meredith Hoffman is a reporter/producer covering Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick.

Splitting her childhood between New York City streets and the Alabama Gulf Coast, Meredith grew up mimicking her writer father with constant scribbles in her notebook (a trait that apparently stuck). She studied English at Cornell University, where she wrote for the school paper and studied abroad in Seville, Spain, and then she used her Spanish skills reporting for the bilingual paper El Tecolote in San Francisco.

Drawn back to her native city for New York University's journalism graduate program, Meredith began writing for the New York Times' East Village blog, and freelanced for publications including City Limits, New York Observer Magazine, and New America Media.

Meredith comes to her Brooklyn beat after interning with the New York Times, where she wrote for the City Room blog and for the newspaper about Occupy Wall Street, tour company scams, Southern Baptist missionaries, and James Franco, to name a few.

Fun fact: Meredith feels most at peace while doing headstands, which she sometimes practices with her 70-year-old yogi-traveler aunt. They are now teaching Meredith's baby cousin to continue the tradition.
