Reporter/Producer @mayarajamani Contact

Maya Rajamani is a reporter/producer covering Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen.

Prior to joining the DNAinfo team, Maya was a reporter for Law360, where she covered breaking legal and business news.

She’s also worked as an education and general assignment reporter at The Riverdale Press in The Bronx, where she wrote an article exploring racial segregation in New York City's public schools that received a first place award for in-depth reporting from the New York Press Association.

Maya has a B.A. in English literature from Cornell University, and a master’s degree from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, where she interned at the Mott Haven Herald and the Hunts Point Express in the South Bronx and wrote and took photos for the NYCity News Service and The Local.

She grew up in Rochester, NY, and has since lived in several Manhattan neighborhoods, including the East Village, Turtle Bay and the Upper West Side.

Fun fact: The first press conference Maya ever covered was an anti-fracking news conference attended by Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon and Mark Ruffalo, who up until then was best known to Maya for his acclaimed work in “13 Going On 30.”
