Kate Pastor

Reporter/Producer Contact

Kate Pastor has worked as a freelance reporter covering the Bronx and beyond for publications including The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Crime Report and City Limits since 2013.

She got her start at The Riverdale Press, where she covered education and politics before moving up to editor-in-chief. During her time as editor, the paper won many distinctions (25 awards in a single year), and she was named editor of the year by the Local Media Association.

Kate has taught journalism at the undergraduate, graduate and high-school levels.

She has knocked on many doors, endured her share of community board meetings and staked out more than a few crime scenes. In addition to watching high-profile criminal trials unfold in The Bronx and Manhattan, Kate has worked on investigations into courthouse patronage, housing court and the New York State Lottery. She is a proud alumna of CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

FUN FACT: Kate briefly worked as a door-to-door saleswoman in London, England.
