Caroline Jumpertz

Neighborhood Life & Features Editor @CarolineDNA Contact

Caroline Jumpertz is Neighborhood Life & Features Editor at DNAinfo, which means she works on the editorial desk, dreams up feature stories, and co-ordinates premium content projects.

Caroline has 20 years experience as a journalist, producer and editor in print and broadcast media. She emigrated from Australia in 2010 with her husband and son, after being randomly selected in the US Department of State’s Diversity Lottery (the green card lottery).

Before the move, Caroline spent the previous five years in editing and production at the financial newspaper The Australian Financial Review, and before that, she taught English as a second language for three years. Caroline completed her cadetship at The Daily Telegraph in Sydney in the early 1990s and worked at a range of publications including Melbourne’s The Herald Sun and the country’s largest circulation magazine, The Australian Women’s Weekly. She also completed stints as a freelance producer for Radio National, and as a press officer for Greenpeace.

She knows something about start ups: In 2000 she worked with her husband to start up an independent record label, Feral Media, which has released more than 60 recordings from dozens of Australian bands and artists and is into its second decade.

DNAinfo is Caroline's first foray into online media. She lives in Williamsburg.

Fun fact: In her free time, Caroline has enjoyed varying degrees of success as a bass player, drummer and ocean swimmer.
