Jill Colvin is DNAinfo.com New York’s City Hall reporter.

Originally from Canada, Jill waved goodbye to the moose and snowshoed her way south to New York for college, where she first discovered the joys of bugging people for a living as a reporter and editor at the Columbia Daily Spectator.

Jill later interned at Canada's Globe and Mail newspaper and at the London Bureau of The Washington Post, where she contributed to a series about injustices against women around the world that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Before coming to DNAinfo.com, she worked as a stringer for the New York Daily News, chasing crime and stalking celebrities and their mistresses.

Jill has a Master’s degree in sociology from the London School of Economics and a Master’s in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Her writing has also appeared in publications including the New York Times, New York Press and Huffington Post.

Fun Fact: Jill has two brothers named Mark.
