THE BRONX — A landlord surrendered to police after he tried to kill his tenant by shooting him the chest in a spat over rent at their Admundson Avenue building Monday night, police said.

Robert Grant, 43, shot his 52-year-old tenant outside the two-story home near Pratt Avenue about 10:30 p.m. before fleeing the scene, NYPD officials said.

The victim hopped into an SUV and tried to drive to the hospital until authorities caught up to him near East 233rd Street and brought him to Jacobi Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, police said. He suffered broken ribs and a bruised lung, officials said.

Grant turned himself in to the 47th Precinct stationhouse at 4111 Laconia Ave. Tuesday, police said.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He hadn't been arraigned as of Tuesday afternoon, records show.
