EAST NEW YORK — A man and a woman were found fatally shot to death in a car after a gunman unloaded a hail of bullets on the man and ended up striking the woman early Friday morning, police said.

Devon Hannibal, 27, of Canarise, and Christina Stubbs, 23, of Pompano Beach, Florida, were found dead inside a red Dodge Durango parked outside a house on Cleveland Street between Hegeman Avenue and Linden Boulevard at about 4:45 a.m., police said.

Hannibal was found in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds and Stubbs was found in the passenger seat with a single bullet wound, according to a police spokesman.

“She was hit by the shots aimed at the driver,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce. "All the shell casings are on the driver's side of the car.”

Boyce said the pair had been inside Linden Hall — which was hosting a "Mesh, Whips and Chains" party the night of the shooting — before going outside and sitting in the car that was parked directly in front of the club.

"We spoke to one of the security agents there — he said there were no problems prior to this,” Boyce said.

Police responded to the scene after receiving 911 calls and notifications from the department’s ShotSpotter system, which picked up multiple gunshots in the area, a spokesman said.
