Harlem Man Charged in 2010 Dismemberment Murder, NYPD Says

THE BRONX — An East Harlem man has finally been charged with a brutal dismemberment, cold-case murder after the remains of another man were found in a burning shopping cart in 2010, police said.

Firefighters and police discovered the body parts of Donnell Harris, 25, inside a bag in the cart after responding to a fire in front of 4121 Park Ave. near East 175th Street in 2010, according to the NYPD.

The remains were later identified as Harris, who lived at 805 E. 156 St.

Joseph Denfield, who lives at 2130 Madison Ave., was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder and manslaughter.

Police did not have immediate information on how he was finally connected to the murder or how the men knew each other.

Joseph Denfield was expected to be arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court Wednesday afternoon.
