MANHATTAN — A Manhattan man spewing anti-immigrant rhetoric yelled, "We are white power" while beating an Asian man in broad daylight on a busy Midtown corner, police said.

Steven Zatorski, 48, who lives in a luxury building on Sixth Avenue near the Flatiron Building, was arrested and charged with assault as a hate crime for pummeling his 30-year-old victim at the corner of Third Avenue and East 53rd Street at 10:30 a.m. Monday, police said.

Zatorski punched the man in the face and the back of the head and kicked him twice in the leg while yelling, "You are a f---ing immigrant, go back to your country. What the f--- are you doing here?" according to police and prosecutors.

"Here is my country. We are white power," the attacker added, according to authorities.

The victim suffered bleeding, swelling, and substantial pain in his right eye and head, officials said. He was treated at the scene but refused to go to the hospital, police said.

Zatorski was charged with felony third-degree assault as a hate crime, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

His bail was set at $5,000 cash or bond, and he's being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex Downtown. He's due back in court on Friday.

Zatorski's attorney declined to comment Wednesday.
