ROCKAWAY PARK — Officials this week released the schedule for the Rockaway ferry, which will launch May 1 as the first route of the city-subsidized NYC Ferry.
There will be 16 daily departures from Rockaway with one stop at Sunset Park before docking at Wall Street on the East River. On weekdays, the earliest boat will leave Rockaway Park at 5:30 a.m. with the last return departure leaving Wall Street at 8:30 p.m. On weekends, the first departure from Rockaway will be at 6:30 a.m. and the last boat back will leave Wall Street at 9:30 p.m.
The ride between Rockaway and Wall Street will take approximately 59 minutes, officials said.
It will take 45 minutes to travel between Rockaway's Beach 108th Street dock and Sunset Park.
The fare will be $2.75 per one-way trip and will not offer free transfers with the MTA's subways or buses.
NYC Ferry is a multi-borough system that is designed to offer more transportation options for New Yorkers. It launches first in Rockaway, with the South Brooklyn route coming online on June 1 and the Astoria route starting in August.
The other routes — Soundview and the Lower East Side — will begin in 2018, officials said.
