CRIME BLOTTER: 19-Year-Old Sitting in Wingate Park Robbed of Bike and Bag

EAST FLATBUSH — Police are looking for two men who threatened to shoot a teenager during a mugging in Wingate Park.

The 19-year-old victim was sitting in the park on the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and Rutland Road around 10:35 a.m. on Feb. 23 when the pair approached him and threatened to shoot him, though they did not display a gun, police said.

The suspects demanded the teen’s cellphone and money. The victim then ran out of the park, leaving his bike and book bag behind, which the suspects took.

No one was injured during the mugging, and no suspects have yet been identified, police said.

► Approximately $30,000 in cash was stolen from an Albany Avenue liquor store, a worker told police. The unknown suspect ripped out wires controlling the gate at 488 Albany Ave., then broke open the security door with a crowbar at about 5:50 a.m. on Feb. 25. A cash register and drawers were emptied of $30,000 in cash and the suspect fled through the front door, south on Albany Avenue and west on Lefferts Avenue. No arrests have been made.

► A 40-year-old delivery man was robbed of $350 cash and the Chinese food he was carrying inside of 1090 Eastern Parkway. The man was delivering the food to that location at 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 22 when an unknown man confronted him, pushed him and took the Chinese food, cash and his cellphone, then fled the building.

► A 32-year-old man was arrested inside a Lefferts Avenue apartment on Feb. 25 for possession of two guns, ammunition and marijuana. Police executed a search warrant at the apartment and found a .22 caliber revolver, a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol, three high capacity magazines and a large quantity of marijuana. The man was arrested and charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, court records show.

► A 52-year-old man was arrested for stealing nine sets of gaming headphones from a Kingston Avenue shop. The man entered the store at 325 Kingston Ave. through a rear window at 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 25 and made off with the headphones, worth $270 each. The man was later arrested and charged with burglary and trespassing, court records show.
