WAKEFIELD — A masked thief pistol-whipped a Bronx deli employee during a brutal robbery of the store, police said.

Two masked suspects entered the Pitman Grocery & Deli at 2020 Pitman Ave. around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, took out their guns and demanded money, according to the NYPD.

One suspect came up to the 48-year-old male employee behind the counter, hit him twice with his gun on the left side of his head and stole cash from the register, while the other suspect told a 50-year-old male employee to lie down on the ground and stole cash from him at gunpoint, police said.

Both suspects fled, and the 48-year-old victim was treated for a minor head injury at Jacobi Hospital, according to the NYPD.

Video of the robbery shows one suspect pistol-whipping the employee behind the counter while the other holds up an employee toward the back of the store.

Officers described the suspects as two men between roughly 20 and 29 years old who were wearing dark clothes and masks.
