Ex-Con Charged in Brooklyn Attempted Rape After Victim IDs Him, NYPD Says

By Ben Fractenberg | February 3, 2017 3:08pm

BROOKLYN — A Bronx man with a string of arrests for drugs and assault was arrested Thursday and charged with attempted rape, according to police.

Brandon Majette, 30, was busted on Feb. 2 after a woman he sexually assaulted in an East New York building in September picked him out of a photo array, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Majette allegedly grabbed the 26-year-old woman in a stairwell inside a Pink Houses building at 1308 Loring Ave. on Sept. 3 and tried to rape her, according to police. He then took $100 out of her purse and fled. The woman was treated at Kings County Hospital.

The Bronx man, who lived at 4036 Barnes Ave. in Wakefield, had several arrests in 2016 for selling heroin and possessing drugs including crack, marijuana and hydromorphone pills, the spokeswoman added.

Majette served nearly eight years in prison for assault after he and three other people fired into a crowd in 2005 and hit several people, police said.

He was charged with attempted rape, robbery, grand larceny, criminal sex act, assault and harassment after his arrest on Thursday.

Majette was expected to be formally charged in Brooklyn Criminal Court Friday.
