Subway Harassers Attack Good Samaritan Who Tries to Help Passenger: NYPD

By Aidan Gardiner | January 19, 2017 9:17am

BROOKLYN — A straphanger was attacked for trying to help an elderly man who was being harassed by five teens on a southbound Q train in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, NYPD officials said.

The 56-year-old man tried to tell the group to stop, but they turned on him instead, punching him in the face before fleeing the train at the Prospect Park Station about 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 10, police said.

The conductor helped the victim who was then treated at Kings County Hospital where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The five teens, who hadn't been arrested as of Thursday, can be seen in surveillance footage released by police Wednesday.

In the footage, four of the teens hop subway turnstiles before the fifth takes the time to swipe his MetroCard.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
