BROOKLYN — A North Carolina gun trafficker was indicted for selling 25 firearms to an undercover police officer last month — with plans to peddle eight more before being arrested, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Marcus Gamble, 24, of Charlotte, made $27,000 during the transactions on Dec. 5 and Dec. 13, both of which took place inside a car near Flatbush Avenue and Maple Street in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, prosecutors said.
He was prepared to sell eight more guns, as well as parts of an assault rifle, on Dec. 20 when he was arrested inside a Golden Krust restaurant on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, the DA’s Office said.
Most of the guns he transported were pistols and revolvers, with some purchased legally in North Carolina and others stolen, prosecutors said.
Acting Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said the sting may have saved lives.
“The pistols and revolvers that were recovered as part of this investigation are exactly the type of guns that are used to commit violence on our streets,” he said in a statement.
Gamble, who has family ties to Brooklyn, was charged with criminal sale of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon as part of a 115-count indictment.
He was ordered held without bail at his arraignment.
