BROOKLYN — A broken rail snarled LIRR trains from Brooklyn during the Thursday evening commute, according to the MTA.

Westbound service was canceled between Jamaica and Atlantic Avenue and there were delays and cancellations from the terminal heading east to Long Island, the agency posted at 5:53 p.m.

The MTA was cross honoring tickets on the 2 and 3 lines so commuters could travel from Atlantic to Penn Station to catch an eastbound train.

There were delays and cancellations on the Babylon, Hempstead, Long Beach, Port Jefferson Ronkonkoma and West Hempstead lines.

The disruption comes just one day after another broken rail caused a commuting headache from Penn Station

Port Washington service was also suspended Thursday evening after a person was struck by a train near the Woodside station

Delays were averaging about 30 minutes out of Atlantic Terminal, according to the MTA's website. Riders can check the agency's website for updates
