THE BRONX — A drunk driver was arrested for manslaughter after causing a fatal collision in Allerton and fleeing the scene, police said.

Tanbir Islam, 21, was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry south along Boston Road near Barnes Avenue not far from his home around 8:55 p.m. Thursday when he swerved into the northbound lane and hit a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by 47-year-old man, police said.

Both cars then smashed into a parked Mitsubishi Endeavor that was unoccupied, the NYPD said.

The accident killed 21-year-old Christopher Hulse, a passenger in Islam's car, and injured three other passengers inside the vehicle, police said.

Islam's other passengers and the minivan driver were in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

Islam initially fled the scene of the accident but was later found getting treated for minor injuries at Jacobi Hospital and taken into custody, police said.

He has been charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and drunk driving, police said.
