Man Hides White Castle Cheeseburger Stolen From 7-Eleven in His Pants: NYPD

CROWN HEIGHTS — A man was arrested for stealing a White Castle cheeseburger from a 7-Eleven on Empire Boulevard this week, then damaging a police car’s window after he was arrested, police said.

A worker at the convenience store at 146 Empire Blvd. flagged down an NYPD officer at 4:40 a.m. on Jan. 2 and told him Jemeil Defreitas, 37, had stolen a White Castle-brand cheeseburger.

As the officer approached Defreitas, the cheeseburger package fell out of the man’s waistband, police said.  Defreitas then allegedly resisted arrest and kicked and damaged the window of the officer’s patrol vehicle as he was placed in custody.

He is charged with criminal mischief, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. He is being held on $2,000 bail, court records show.

Defreitas also faces charges in five separate open cases from the past year, court records show, including three charges for drinking in public, one charge for disorderly conduct and another for harassment. His legal representative from the Legal Aid Society could not be reached for comment.

The above incident is part of DNAinfo’s weekly crime blotter made from reports to the 71st Precinct in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Crown Heights and East Flatbush.
