CROWN HEIGHTS — A 27-year-old man was shot six times near the Franklin Avenue subway station in a gang-related gun battle on New Year’s Eve, police said.

The man was standing near the station on Eastern Parkway around 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 31 when two strangers approached him and asked if he was a member of the Crips, police said.

When the man said no, the two men pulled out handguns. The 27-year-old tried to flee by running into the Franklin Avenue subway station, but he was shot twice in the right ankles, three times in the right buttock and once in his right thigh as he tried to get away, police said.

The victim was treated for his injuries as a local hospital and is expected to survive. As of Thursday, police said no suspect have been identified in the shooting.
