Armed Robber in Skull Mask Drags Woman by Her Hair Through Home, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | December 29, 2016 9:41am

THE BRONX — A robber wearing a skull mask dragged a woman by her hair through her City Island apartment before pistol-whipping her and stealing a safe full of cash and personal documents, NYPD officials said.

The thief, who can be seen in surveillance footage released by police, rang the buzzer of the 43-year-old victim's Pilot Street home near City Island Avenue about 8 p.m. Wednesday and said she had to come downstairs to sign for a package, police said.

When she got downstairs, she didn't see anyone and returned to her apartment to find the masked suspect in her foyer pointing a silver-and-black gun at her, police said.

He then grabbed her by the hair and dragged her into her bedroom, where he struck her right eyebrow with the butt of the gun, police said.

He grabbed a small safe from the room and put it in a Nike duffel bag before dragging her into another bedroom and snatching another safe, police said. Both safes held cash and personal documents, police said.

The suspect told her to lie on the ground until he left the home. He fled and wasn't immediately arrested, police said.

He was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, black-and-white sneakers, a black hoodie and the mask with a skull on it, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
