Police Officer Charged with Assaulting His Girlfriend, NYPD Says

UPPER WEST SIDE — A New York City Police officer was charged with assaulting his girlfriend in a dispute that turned physical Friday morning on the Upper West Side, police said. 

On Friday at 6:05 a.m., Freddie Salas, 32, assaulted his 31-year-old girlfriend within the 24th Precinct, which runs from West 86th Street to West 110th Street. Police would not identify the specific address where the assault occurred.  

Salas' girlfriend had a cut, bruises and swelling as a result of the assault, but did not receive immediate medical attention, police said. 

Salas works at a precinct in The Bronx, but police would not specify which precinct. 

Information regarding his lawyer was not immediately available.
