CRIME BLOTTER: Piece of Woman's Ear Bitten Off by Another Woman, Police Say

CROWN HEIGHTS — Police arrested a 24-year-old woman this week after she bit off a piece of the ear of a 40-year-old woman after they had an argument inside a Fenimore Street apartment building.

The pair began arguing in an apartment at 701 Fenimore St. around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 when the younger woman bit the other’s left ear, police said.

The victim suffered a significant laceration on her ear and had to go to local hospital to have it reattached.

The 24-year-old was arrested a short time later and now faces assault, menacing and harassment charges, court records show. She was arraigned on Nov. 6 and released from custody with a temporary order of protection.

► A 34-year-old woman was arrested for punching a police officer in the face in front of 577 Flatbush Ave. The incident took place at 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 2. The 36-year-old male officer was treated for swelling on his face and forehead by EMS on the scene.

► A 35-year-old man was arrested for hitting a 41-year-old man in the face with a plunger, then punching him and threatening him with a knife. The assault took place at the victim’s apartment at 501 New York Ave. at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 2. The victim suffered minor injuries during the attack, but was not hospitalized.

► Police received a ShotSpotter gunfire detection alert for a shooting at Utica Avenue and Carroll Street around 3:26 a.m. on Nov. 5. When officers arrived, they found seven spent shells outside of 1651 Carroll St. There were no injuries from the shooting and no suspects identified.

► A 25-year-old man was arrested for having a handgun in his car after police stopped him for a defective headlight. Officers saw him driving a white Ford SUV on Rogers Avenue south of Crown Street at 5:45 p.m on Nov. 6 when they pulled him over for the broken light. Upon investigation, the officers found he had an active warrant and a handgun in the center console of the car.
