SOUTH BRONX — The man accused of fatally pushing a 61-year-old father in front of a subway train in the South Bronx was sentenced to 18 years behind bars for the crime on Thursday.
Kevin Darden had pleaded guilty to manslaughter in September for shoving Wai Kuen Kwok in front of a Manhattan-bound D train at the 167th Street station around 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 16, 2014 in front of Kwok's horrified wife.
He has been arrested more than 30 times, including once in 2011 for trying to burn down his brother's house in Longview, Texas and once on Nov. 9, 2014 for pickpocketing near Times Square, officials said.
Darden was released from jail just two days before the deadly shove.
