HELL’S KITCHEN — A panhandler with a long rap sheet slashed a man across the chest outside a restaurant on Ninth Avenue, police said.

Steven Sanders, 47, was asking for handouts outside Yum Yum Bangkok at 650 Ninth Ave., near West 45th Street, around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday when he got into an argument with the 26-year-old victim, the NYPD said.

At some point during the argument, Sanders charged at the man and slashed the upper right part of his chest with a knife before fleeing the scene on foot, police and a complaint filed with the Manhattan District Attorney's office said.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he received 15 stitches, police said.

Sanders was arrested and charged with assault, the DA’s office said.

He is currently being held at the Manhattan Detention Complex on $50,000 bail and is expected to appear in court on Oct. 28, city Department of Correction records show.

Between 1988 and 2011, Sanders did several stints in prison for assault, robbery, grand larceny, attempted robbery and criminal drug sale, records show.

A Yum Yum Bangkok employee on Tuesday said she wasn't working when the incident happened, and a manager couldn't be reached for comment.

An attorney for Sanders did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
