THE BRONX — Police are looking for a man in a wheelchair who they said gunned down another man in a drug feud behind the Mott Haven Houses Sunday morning, officials said.

The suspect approached the rear of 350 E. 143rd St., near Willis Avenue, just minutes before 2 a.m., accompanied by another man, NYPD officials said.

The man in the wheelchair then pulled out a gun and shot Kevin Thomas, 28, police said.

Thomas, who lived nearby, was pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center, officials said.

The suspects fled the scene and hadn't been arrested as of Monday morning, police said.

The man in the wheelchair was described by police as wearing a black jacket and glasses. His accomplice wore a brown jacket.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the shooting, but investigators believe it could be drug-related retaliation for an earlier incident.

"The victim at the time did have drugs on him," said the NYPD's Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
