By Kathleen Culliton | September 27, 2016 6:13pm

THE BRONX — An off-duty police officer suspected of beating up his girlfriend with her own pocketbook was arrested Tuesday, police said.

Grantley Bovell, 27, was arguing with his girlfriend in his home in the 47th precinct — which covers Wakefield, Williamsbridge and Woodlawn Heights — at around 11:30 p.m. Monday evening, police said.

The fight turned physical when he picked up the bag and used it to strike her across the face, according to the NYPD.

Bovell has been charged with one count of assault for the alleged attack, police said.
